Kinsmen Bridge Replacement Project Begins

Participark (including the trail from Concession Street W. to Baldwin St) will be closed from August through December to facilitate the removal and replacement of Kinsmen Bridge. During this time, there will not be any public access to the park.

Additionally, there will not be any pedestrian/cycling access to Veteran’s Walkway from Rolph Street to Wilson Avenue during the construction period. Access to the Hickory Hills Recreation Centre will be maintained.

A pedestrian detour will be in place and a temporary three-way stop installed on Baldwin Street at Wilson Ave. to facilitate safe crossing.

For your own safety, please respect the security fencing and signage at all site entrances. This project will involve a significant amount of heavy equipment and require large construction staging areas to be put in place.

Your cooperation and patience is appreciated.

The project includes the replacement of the Kinsmen Pedestrian Bridge with a new prefabricated bridge constructed with weathering steel, galvanized grating, and new steel piers. The existing masonry piers will be retained and upgraded with new concrete caps and LED lighting fixtures will be installed along the bridge deck. Upon completion, all disturbed areas are to be restored.
