Mayor addresses vandalism of Pride crosswalk in Tillsonburg

Tillsonburg’s Progress Pride-themed crosswalk, located on Bridge Street West at Broadway, was vandalized last night. The damage occurred just three days after the crossing was installed by Pride Oxford.

“Defacing public property is not acceptable in Tillsonburg at any time,” says Mayor Deb Gilvesy. “However, this particular kind of vandalism is deeply concerning. This would appear to be a wilful, targeted act of disrespect intended to divide our community.”

“Vandalism is not freedom of expression,” she stresses. “It’s anti-social behaviour and it will not be tolerated. We need to work together to a create a respectful community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
