Do It Right: Backyard Pools
Thinking about getting a pool this summer? Owning a pool is terrific—but it comes with responsibilities.
Outdoor swimming pools can pose a danger to young children if left unattended and unprotected. By-law 4008 requires every outdoor swimming pool that is capable of holding water deeper than 24 inches or is greater than 22 sq. ft. to be enclosed by
a fence.
A permit for a swimming pool enclosure must be obtained before the pool is installed.
Remember to investigate the cost of proper fencing/enclosure before purchasing any pool—including softsided and inflatable models. Learn more about the requirements for pools at www.tillsonburg.ca/pools.
Sanitary sewer maintenance is continuing
Sanitary sewer maintenance is continuing until August 30.
For a map of affected areas, please visit www.tillsonburg.ca/sanitary
The flushing work will be performed on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. However, high traffic areas may be flushed after 7:00 p.m. to ensure safety for contractors and residents.
During this work, a bubbling and/or vacuum effect may be noticed in your drains and/or toilets. If you notice this occurring, close all toilet seats and cover any floor drains during the flushing period. In order to prevent sewer gases from migrating into the home, it is important to refill all plumbing traps by running the water in your sinks and floor drains after the work is complete.
