Citizen of the Year Nominations

The Town of Tillsonburg is now accepting nominations for the Tillsonburg Citizen of the Year Award.

This award recognizes an individual who makes an outstanding contribution to the Town of Tillsonburg, with no expectation of personal gain. Volunteering of personal time and talent towards the betterment of our community are hallmarks of this award.

Nominees can be recommended either for outstanding contributions to the community in the past year, or over a number of years.

Inter-Community Transit ends April 1

Inter-community bus service from Tillsonburg to area municipalities--including Ingersoll and Woodstock--will cease effective April 1, 2025 due to a lack of funding. The decision was made at Council’s February 24 Regular Council meeting.

T:GO routes within the Town of Tillsonburg are not affected by the change and will continue.

Volunteer Achievement Awards

The Tillsonburg Volunteer Achievement Awards recognize individuals who make significant, sustained contributions to the community as a volunteer and are awarded only a quarterly basis.

Anyone may nominate an individual for the award, however only nominees who live in Tillsonburg or whose volunteer service benefits the Tillsonburg community will be considered.

Asset Management Plan Survey

The Town of Tillsonburg is currently updating its Asset Management Plan (AMP).

An asset management plan helps a municipality make sure valuable items like buildings,
roads and equipment are maintained so they will last a long time, work well, and provide the most benefit to the community.

You can help us update our Asset Management Plan by completing a short online survey before March 30.

Spring Water System Maintenance

The Town of Tillsonburg is scheduled to begin annual spring water system maintenance in the following areas.

March 17-21
- Area west of Quarter Town Line, from Baldwin Street to North Street

March 24-28
- Area between Quarter Town Line and Rolph Street, from Concession Street to Baldwin Street

March 31-April 1
- Area south of John Pound Road, west of Tillson Ave.

April 7-11
- Area between Broadway and Participark, between Baldwin and Concession Street

Flushing will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily. Residents in the maintenance area may experience low pressure and discoloured water while flushing is in progress.
Residents should avoid doing laundry while flushing is happening as discoloured water may transfer to clothes and bedding.

In the event your water is discoloured, open a cold water tap in your home for 5-10 minutes until the line is clear. If discolouring persists, contact Customer Service at 519-688-3009.

New Exhibit: What’s Your Sign? Part II

Everybody has one. This exhibition will showcase signatures from the Museum’s collection. From George Tillson to other Tillsonburg residents examine the signatures of Tillsonburg’s past. The exhibit will run until May 4 at Annandale National Historic Site (30 Tillson Ave.).

 

Pilates

Pilates is an exercise system that focuses on breathing, core conditioning and body awareness to improve muscle tone, posture and flexibility. Ages 13+.

Indoor Pool now open!

Good news! The indoor pool at the Tillsonburg Community Centre has reopened. Drop in swims and classes are on now, and lessons begin March 17.

Visiting for the first time? Arrive via the renovated south entrance. Check in at the new Customer Service Desk. Staff will hand you a card that you will present to the lifeguards on the deck. You may go to the men’s, women’s, or universal changeroom on the lower level. Each changeroom has direct access to the pool deck. Once on deck, a lifeguard will collect your card, and you may then enter the pool for your swim.
