Town of Tillsonburg Launches First ‘Clean & Green Tillsonburg’ Community Cleanup

Town of Tillsonburg Launches First ‘Clean & Green Tillsonburg’ Community Cleanup

The Town of Tillsonburg is inviting residents, families, schools, businesses, and community groups to take part in its first-ever Clean & Green Tillsonburg Earth Week, a new community-wide initiative running April 19–25, 2026. The event celebrates Earth Week while encouraging local stewardship of Tillsonburg’s parks, trails, and natural areas.

As part of the initiative, groups of 5–30 people are invited to “adopt” a location and complete a cleanup at any time throughout the week. Teams can be formed by anyone—families, friends, classrooms, sports teams, clubs, neighbourhood groups, or workplaces. Participants are also encouraged to choose a fun team name, adding a playful and community building element to the experience.

The Town will provide free gloves and garbage bags, available for pickup at:

  • Customer Service Centre
    • 10 Lisgar Ave, Tillsonburg
    • Mon - Fri: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Community Centre
    • 45 Hardy Ave, Tillsonburg
    • Mon - Fri: 5:15 a.m. - 9:15 p.m.
    • Sat - Sun: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Annandale NHS
    • 30 Tillson Ave, Tillsonburg
    • Mon - Fri: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
    • Sun: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

All teams that register and submit their cleanup results will have their team’s name entered a prize draw. The Grand Prize is a private skate or swim with a pizza party for the entire team. Several additional prizes will also be awarded to participating teams through the draw.

Teams can register now using the online sign‑up form on the Town’s website. A list of available parks and trails is posted online and updated as locations are adopted.

Adding even more excitement to Clean & Green Tillsonburg is the Great Gnome Hunt! Special Tillsonburg Garden Gnomes will be hidden throughout town. Anyone who finds one during their cleanup can bring it to the Tillsonburg Community Centre Customer Service Desk to have their photo taken and claim a garden starter kit prize. Residents can follow the Town’s Facebook page for updates to the Gnome Counter, which tracks how many gnomes are still waiting to be discovered.

All participating groups will contribute to a town-wide total of garbage collected, offering an inspiring benchmark the community can look forward to improving each year. Once Earth Week concludes, the Town will weigh all collected garbage and share the results publicly.
